Choosing a Ray-Ban frame

The Justin RB4165 is our best-selling Ray-Ban model over the past year, ahead of the Clubmaster RB3016 and the New Wayfarer RB2132. The Justin is a square nylon frame with a rubberised finish, and its leading colourway is Rubber Black with grey gradient polarised lenses.

The Clubmaster is the browline choice, in acetate and metal, and it also sells as the RB3016F. The New Wayfarer RB2132 is a medium square, and the Wayfarer family also includes the Wayfarer Ease RB4340. For metal, the Aviator RB3025 is our fifth-best Ray-Ban model, the RB3483 is a large metal square and the RB3663 a bigger metal frame.

Among frames that sit only in our women's range, the Erika RB4171 sells most. It is a round frame whose leading colourway pairs light havana with brown gradient polarised lenses, and the Emma RB4167 and RB4362 are other women's choices. The Ray-Ban x Meta range is led by the Wayfarer RW4012 (Gen 2), in standard and Large sizes, followed by the Wayfarer RW4006.

Ray-Ban lenses

About three in ten of the Ray-Ban frames we list are polarised. Ray-Ban describes its polarised lenses as intercepting reflections and blocking glare for better contrast and clarity. Check the listed lens specification on each product, and the polarised Ray-Ban range collects polarised frames in one place.

Lens options include the classic G-15 green, B-15 brown, grey and brown gradients, and dark green. The range also includes Chromance polarised lenses, such as on the RB4264, and photochromic lenses.

About Ray-Ban

Ray-Ban was created in 1936 by Bausch & Lomb, whose first prototype for US Army Air Corps pilots had green lenses to cut glare. The metal-framed version was patented as the Ray-Ban Aviator. The Clubmaster joined the line in the 1980s, and Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Italian eyewear group Luxottica in 1999.

Ray-Ban sunglasses questions

Are all Ray-Ban sunglasses polarised?

No. About three in ten of the Ray-Ban frames we list have polarised lenses, and the range also has non-polarised and photochromic options. Our three best-selling models, the Justin RB4165, Clubmaster RB3016 and New Wayfarer RB2132, each come in polarised and non-polarised versions. Check the lens type in each product's details before you buy.

Are polarised Ray-Bans better than regular sunglasses?

They do one job better: cutting reflected glare. Ray-Ban says its polarised lenses intercept reflections and block glare for better contrast and clarity. If glare is rarely a problem where you wear sunglasses, a non-polarised lens still gives you a tinted lens, and the same Ray-Ban frame usually costs less without polarising.

What is the difference between the Justin, New Wayfarer and Clubmaster?

Shape and material. The Justin RB4165 is a square nylon frame with a rubberised finish, listed in our men's range. The New Wayfarer RB2132 is a medium nylon square in both our men's and women's ranges. The Clubmaster RB3016 is a browline frame in acetate and metal, also in both ranges.

How much do Ray-Ban sunglasses cost?

Within Ray-Ban, price mostly follows the lens and the line. A polarised version of a frame generally costs more than the same frame without polarising, and Ray-Ban x Meta glasses generally cost more than the standard frames. Each frame's current price is shown on this page.

Where can I buy Ray-Ban sunglasses in Australia?

Right here online, and in BrightEyes stores across Queensland, New South Wales, the Northern Territory and Western Australia, though the Ray-Ban range on the shelf varies from store to store. BrightEyes is an authorised Australian Ray-Ban retailer, so every pair is genuine Ray-Ban stock. Use the store finder to see your closest stores, where staff will fit and adjust your frame for free.

How can I tell if Ray-Ban sunglasses are fake?

Start with the price and the seller. Ray-Ban is a notable target for counterfeiters, and adverts offering Ray-Bans at unrealistically low prices have been consistently linked to fraudulent websites. Be wary of an unfamiliar site selling far below everyone else. BrightEyes is an authorised Australian Ray-Ban retailer.

Which Ray-Ban x Meta glasses do you sell?

Our best-selling model is the Wayfarer RW4012 (Gen 2), and its leading colourway is the Wayfarer Large in shiny black with clear-to-graphite-green photochromic lenses. The Wayfarer RW4006 sells in black with graphite polarised or green lenses. The full selection is on our Ray-Ban x Meta page, linked above.

Can I get prescription lenses in a Ray-Ban frame?

Not at BrightEyes, because we do not fit prescription lenses. If you wear glasses, a fitover goes over your current frames, or a clip-on fixes to their front. Your glasses keep your prescription and the add-on does the shading.
