Choosing a Burberry frame

The BE4478 is our most-bought Burberry model over the past year, a large acetate square in striped beige or black, with the BE4291, a large black rectangle, close behind. Next come the BE3080, a light gold metal aviator with brown gradient lenses, then two black rectangles: the large BE4475U and the extra-large BE4480D. The BE4160 and BE4471F are medium acetate squares, the second in black or bordeaux.

Square frames make up nearly half of our Burberry range, and cat-eye shapes such as the BE4216 are the next most common. Named models include the Daphne BE3133, a rose gold square, and two extra-large black squares, the Micah BE4397U and the Knight BE4358. Burberry lenses

Fewer than one in ten of our Burberry colourways have polarised lenses, which reduce glare reflected off shiny surfaces such as water and wet roads. Non-polarised options include dark grey, grey gradient, brown gradient and pink gradient lenses. Gradient lenses go from a darker shade at the top to a lighter one at the bottom. Our polarised sunglasses bring together polarised frames from a range of brands.

About Burberry

Thomas Burberry founded the business in 1856 in Basingstoke, England. The Burberry check has been in use since at least the 1920s, including as a trench coat lining, and it now turns up on frames such as the BE4487. Burberry eyewear is made under licence by Luxottica.

Burberry sunglasses questions

Are Burberry sunglasses polarised?

Some are. Fewer than one in ten of our Burberry colourways have polarised lenses, including versions of the BE3080 aviator and the BE4160 square, the Knight BE4358 and the BE4293. Check the listed lens specification on each product. The rest of the range uses non-polarised tinted lenses, many with a gradient.

Which is better, UV protection or polarised lenses?

They do different jobs, so one does not replace the other. Polarised lenses reduce glare reflected off water and roads, which helps when driving or on the beach. Polarisation on its own does not decide how much UV a lens blocks; that depends on the lens itself, not on whether it is polarised. In our Burberry range, polarised lenses are on fewer than one frame in ten.

Which Burberry frame should I choose?

Three popular squares show the spread. The BE4487 is a medium acetate square in sand with a check gradient. The BE4478 is a large acetate square in striped beige or black. The Daphne BE3133 is a large rose gold metal square with pink gradient lenses. Choose medium or large first, then acetate or metal.

Who makes Burberry sunglasses?

Luxottica. Burberry is one of the luxury brands Luxottica makes sunglasses for under licence, alongside Prada, Versace, Coach and Miu Miu. Quote the model number when you contact us about a pair, for example BE4478.

How do I know if Burberry glasses are real?

From us, they are: BrightEyes sells genuine Burberry sunglasses as an authorised retailer, with Australian warranty. To check a pair against its listing, use the BE code. For example, BE4478 420687 in size 55 identifies the model, the black colourway and the size, so you can match it to the pair you receive.

Do you have Burberry aviator sunglasses?

Yes, though aviators are a small part of the Burberry range. The BE3080 is the one we sell most: a light gold metal aviator with brown gradient lenses, also made with polarised lenses. If you want a metal frame in a different shape, look at the Daphne BE3133 rose gold square.

Are Burberry sunglasses for women or men?

Both, though our women's range is about twice the size of our men's. Popular frames include the BE4478 square, the BE4487 with its check gradient and the BE4216 cat-eye. Larger black squares such as the Knight BE4358 and the Micah BE4397U suit anyone who wants a wider frame.

Are Burberry optical glasses available here?

Not with prescription lenses. We do not fit prescription lenses, so a Burberry frame from us keeps its original tinted lenses. If you need your prescription outdoors, fitover sunglasses slip over your everyday glasses and clip-ons attach to the front of them.
